Root Cause Analysis:
The failure of duct tape stems from a fundamental conflict between its materials and the working environment of air ducts:
◉ Poor heat resistance: Air ducts must withstand extreme temperature fluctuations caused by HVAC systems. The adhesive on ordinary duct tape softens and flows under high temperatures, then dries out and cracks after repeated heating-cooling cycles, eventually losing its grip. In summer, attic temperatures can exceed 65°C, accelerating tape aging.
◉ Inadequate material performance: Typical "duct tape" is a cloth-backed rubber adhesive tape. Tests show that its two main weaknesses lie precisely in the mechanical properties of the natural rubber adhesive and the cloth backing. Under the stress, dust, and temperature variations inside ducts, the adhesive fails rapidly.

To properly seal the air duct, the following materials should be selected:
• Aluminum foil tape: designed specifically for HVAC systems, with a metal backing that can withstand temperature changes well.
• Mastic: A paste like sealant that forms a durable and flexible sealing layer.
• Special tape certified by UL 181: Please identify the "UL 181A" or "UL 181B" logo when purchasing.
