Regulations on ECE-104 Reflective Tape
The regulations on trailer reflective tape in Europe are mainly based on the UN Economic Commission for Europe (ECE) regulations and EU directives, with the core logic of "the larger the vehicle model, the stricter the requirements".
Mandatory installation of vehicles: Vehicles that meet the following conditions (registered for the first time in an EU country) must be equipped with reflective markings:
• M-class (passenger cars): M2 (more than 9 seats, total weight ≤ 5 tons), M3 (more than 9 seats, total weight>5 tons);
• Class N (Truck): Cargo trucks, especially those with a total weight exceeding 7.5 tons;
• Type O (Trailer): All types of trailers and semi trailers, with O3 (3.5 tons to 10 tons) and O4 (greater than 10 tons) being mandatory.
Technical specifications and installation requirements

| Length and Coverage (Side) |
Coverage: Along the side of the vehicle, the reflective tape needs to cover more than 80% of the total length of the vehicle.
Interruption: If the structure of the container door, toolbox, etc. cannot be continuously pasted, reasonable interruption is allowed. Both ends of each reflective tape must be marked, and the overall outline must be clear and distinguishable.

Standard range: After pasting, the lower edge of the reflective tape should be between 250mm and 1500mm above the ground.
Special circumstances: If the vehicle design cannot meet the requirements, it can be relaxed to a maximum of 2100mm.

| Certification and Marking |
Certification requirements: The reflective tape itself must be certified by ECE R104.
Compliance mark: A prominent certification mark (i.e. E-mark) containing the letter "E" in a circle must be imprinted on the compliant reflective tape at intervals of up to 50cm.
