How to install a silicone water barrier in the bathroom
Silicone rubber Water Dam/Barrier Strip is a flexible self-adhesive waterproof barrier mainly used to solve the problem of surface water stains overflowing. It is fixed on a smooth surface with high viscosity adhesive and uses physical protrusions to block water flow, achieving "dry wet separation".

This self-adhesive water retaining dam strip has extremely high requirements for the base layer, and only correct installation can ensure its long-term non seepage and non detachment. The specific installation procedures are as follows:

Pre-installation preparation

•  Tools and accessories: tape measure, art knife, cleaning cloth, glass glue (neutral anti mold silicone glue), glue gun (if sealing needs to be strengthened).
•  Environmental inspection: Ensure that the ground is absolutely dry, flat, and free of oil stains. Uneven or rough surfaces (such as cement blanks) need to be leveled first, otherwise they cannot be firmly adhered.

Installation Process

Steps Key Operating Points Key Details
Cleaning positioning Thoroughly clean the installation area with a cleaning agent to remove dust and oil stains, and wipe dry with a dry cloth. Plan a water blocking line on the ground. Drying is the key to success or failure. If there is residual moisture, the backing adhesive will fail.
cutting length Cut the silicone strip to the appropriate size using an art knife according to the planned length. If you need to turn, you can cut it at a 45 ° angle and splice it together. The incision should be kept as flat as possible to avoid burrs affecting aesthetics and sealing.
Tear off and press Tear off the adhesive protective film and slowly stick it along the marked line. Do not tear off all the adhesive at once. It is recommended to apply it while tearing to prevent misalignment. After pasting, press down firmly on the entire strip. When the temperature is low in winter, a hair dryer can be used to heat the adhesive and floor (about 40-50 ℃), which can greatly improve the stickiness.
Secondary sealing (recommended) Apply anti mold glass glue to the edges on both sides of the water barrier and the joints between the two ends and the wall, and smooth it out with fingers or a scraper. This step can prevent water from leaking through the gaps at the bottom of the strip, which is a long-term waterproof guarantee.
Static solidification After installation, let it sit for at least 24 hours (summer) to 48 hours (winter), during which stepping or flushing is strictly prohibited. Wait for the colloid to fully solidify and ensure maximum adhesion.
